WMS settings

WMS settings control general values used across the Putaway WMS account. They do not belong to one warehouse only and should be changed only by people who understand the operational impact.

The application saves these values for the account you are signed in to. You do not manually choose a client on this page.

If the page title shows the selected warehouse, treat it only as a visual reference. The settings on this page are still account settings and may affect every warehouse in the account.

Use WMS settings when you:

  • configure the account for the first time;
  • check the currency, VAT rate, and value display rules;
  • change how dates and times appear on screens;
  • set the volumetric weight factor used for products;
  • prepare codes for handling units such as pallets, boxes, or containers.

Do not change these values during a busy operational day without notifying the team. A small setting change can affect how users read prices, reports, products, or labels.

The page shows settings as rows. Each row has the setting name, the current value, and an information icon.

SettingWhat it means for users
Volumetric Weight FactorUsed to calculate volumetric weight for products.
CurrencyThe account’s accounting currency, based on the company country.
View currencyThe currency used to display selected stock values and reports.
VAT rateThe default VAT rate used on new lines added manually to WMS orders, between 0 and 100.
Time ZoneThe time zone used as a reference for automatically generated moments in the account.
Date FormatThe order and separator used when dates are displayed.
Time FormatWhether time is displayed as 24-hour time or 12-hour time with AM/PM.
Pallet HU prefixThe starting letters for pallet codes.
Box HU prefixThe starting letters for box codes.
Container HU prefixThe starting letters for container codes.

Handling unit prefixes appear only for users who have access to handling unit work. If they are not visible, check the user’s permissions or the active plan.

Currency is the account’s accounting currency. Putaway WMS sets it from the company country. For example, for a company in Romania, the accounting currency is RON.

Normally, this value is not changed from the settings page. After the account is configured, the field is usually locked. It also remains locked when stock, adjustments, or documents already exist and use financial values.

Do not use another setting to try to change the currency of documents that already exist.

View currency controls the currency users see for selected stock values, reports, and lists. It does not change documents and does not rewrite prices that were already saved.

The available options depend on the company country:

  • for countries where only one currency is allowed, the list may contain a single option;
  • for some European Union countries that do not use the euro as the local currency, both the local currency and EUR may be available.

After changing it, check the dashboard, stock, and stock report to make sure the team sees values in the expected currency.

VAT rate is the default percentage used when users manually add products to an order created directly in WMS.

Enter the percentage without the % sign. For example, for 19% VAT, enter 19.

The accepted value on screen is between 0 and 100 and can have up to two decimal places.

This setting applies to new lines. It does not automatically recalculate orders, documents, or records that were already saved.

These settings help users read moments in the application consistently.

  • Date Format controls how the date appears, for example 31.12.2026 or 2026-12-31.
  • Time Format controls whether the time appears as 14:30 or 2:30 PM.
  • Time Zone sets the account reference time zone for automatically generated moments, for example titles or dates created automatically in some flows.

Choose the format your team naturally uses. For teams operating in Romania, a common choice is day-month-year date format and 24-hour time.

After changing the date or time format, check lists, history, documents, and tickets. Users who already had the application open in another tab may need to reload the page to see the new format everywhere.

The volumetric weight factor is used in the product catalog for this calculation:

length x width x height / factor

Many couriers use 6000 as the standard value. If you have another value agreed with your carrier, enter that value.

Use a positive value. If the value is missing or cannot be used, volumetric weight calculation falls back to 6000.

Changing the factor changes the volumetric weight shown for products that have length, width, and height filled in. It does not change the product dimensions and does not fill in missing dimensions.

Handling units are packages or supports that you track in the warehouse, for example:

  • pallets;
  • boxes;
  • containers.

Prefixes define the first letters of the generated codes for these units.

Default values are:

Unit typeDefault prefixExample code
PalletPLTPLT-00-00-01
BoxBOXBOX-00-00-01
ContainerCNTCNT-00-00-01

On the page, choose the three prefix letters. Each letter is selected separately: first, second, and third. Putaway WMS uses uppercase letters.

If you change a prefix, Putaway WMS also updates existing codes for that handling unit type. The beginning of the code changes; the numeric groups stay the same.

Change prefixes before handling units are used in daily work, not after labels have already been applied in the warehouse.

After making changes, select Save.

If saving succeeds, Putaway WMS shows a confirmation message. If an error appears, read the message on screen and do not continue as if the setting was applied.

For important settings, immediately check a screen that uses the changed value:

  • for view currency, check Stock or Stock report;
  • for VAT, create or check a new manual order;
  • for date and time, check a history list or a ticket;
  • for volumetric factor, open a product with dimensions filled in;
  • for prefixes, check the code of an affected handling unit.

Do not use this page for:

  • rules that apply only to one warehouse;
  • location, receiving, quarantine, returns, or picking cart prefixes;
  • user permissions;
  • connecting MerchantPro or another external platform;
  • correcting stock;
  • changing documents that were already issued.
